It is hard to think that Christmas is almost upon us followed by the New Year, 2018 seems to have flown.

It has been a year of interesting challenges for everyone, with some great success stories for our Clients, job offers that have met expectations and some even exceeded them, one by a compensation increase of over £100k.

We have launched several new services expanding our Executive Career Management programme, including a standalone Coaching service, a Transition service designed for Middle management and /or Millennials wanting to make the move to Director level and CV preparation and interview skill training for Graduates looking for their first role in the work place.

The political arena both home and abroad has without doubt had an impact on the Executive job market, resulting in  lengthy interview processes and delaying tactics before job offers.

It would be fair to say, I think that we are all becoming bored and frustrated with Brexit, the political shenanigans by our representatives and the press, it’s time to just get on with it so that we can all move on.

On a positive note, news from our network is amazing, with some head hunters reporting the best year for a long time in terms of job offers, higher compensations than ever and generally more interesting mandates.

On a personal note my year has rather echoed the market. Last Christmas I challenged my brother to walk part of the Camino de Santiago with me, originally a pilgrimage and now walked for various reasons, not least the personal challenge of walking over 100 miles in 5 days, being off grid (for a large chunk of the day), communing with nature and actually taking the time to appreciate and acknowledge the beauty of everything and  how little we actually need to exist.

Without doubt it was tough and we both succeeded with our goals, feeling enormous satisfaction have reached Santiago in one piece.  The stand out experience was how friendly our fellow pilgrims were, always a smile, a greeting, a word of encouragement, no one making any judgement about anyone, in fact no labelling according to our job titles… a refreshing experience in a world that tends to focus on that.

The Cavendish Hepburn team would like to wish you love, laughter and peace at this special time of year.

Season’s Greetings from the CH team
